Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy
Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy is a health specialty dedicated to the prevention, treatment and stabilization of all people. Everyone can enjoy the benefits regardless of how old we are.
One of the major areas of physiotherapy is pediatric, aimed at the child and which encompasses different areas. We can distinguish the traumatological, psychomotor stimulation, neurological and respiratory areas. These interventions always take into account the global nature of the child and family in question, since Tot Teràpia likes to work with a team made up of different professionals, carrying out a transdisciplinary approach.
Physiotherapy offers the child the possibility of experiencing movement in an appropriate way, facilitating optimal movement patterns, muscle strength and ensuring that patterns do not appear with an incorrect alignment during sustained postures. A correct postural control will facilitate an improvement of the function. In addition, it will facilitate the child’s play, this being an essential activity by which children explore their environment and learn from everything that surrounds them.
The ideal treatment starts in an early stage and is continuous, with guidelines and empowerment for families, who are an essential part of the treatment.
Physiotherapy is also dedicated to those children and adults with a neurological diagnosis, who have some type of affectation in their daily life and which can often be improved with physiotherapy. It is fundamental that children who need extra care, receive stimulation in the early childhood stage.
We also talk about respiratory physiotherapy. This aspect of physiotherapy is not painful, has no negative side effects and also needs the collaboration of each child’s family. The objectives are: improve oxygenation, drain secretions, facilitate respiratory work, train respiratory capacity and inform and help families. It is aimed at people with problems such as: pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, asthma, cystic fibrosis, upper respiratory tract, allergies, neuro-muscular problems, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, atelectasis (collapsed lung), etc. In general, problems with an increase in the mucus.
At Tot Teràpia we combine this with nutrition, as well as other therapies, depending on the case and whenever necessary.
The sessions can be performed at the time of acuteness where the primary objective will be to drain secretions. This can also be done in patients prone to recurrent bronchitis or other pathologies that occur with mucus as a habit of cleaning, maintenance and prevention, to avoid relapses. We adapt the techniques that we use to the age patient, the pathology, previous anamnesis and auscultation of the patient.
